Our Guardian home program

~Where every dog gets to live the life they deserve~

Our Guardian Program is an essential aspect of our breeding program. In order for a dog to reach their fullest potential they need love, consistent structure, training and a purpose. We believe they need to live amongst a family, and be able to interact in a family setting, so this is where our guardian home program comes in. It is a win win win as it gives the guardian family a top of the line puppy, at no cost, it gives a puppy a wonderful life, keeping her out of the kennel atmosphere, and it allows us to develop a wonderful relationship with our families, knowing that our dogs are living the best life.

In our program, the approved Guardian family receives a top of the line puppy or in some cases dog at no upfront cost to them. It is their responsibility to cover the cost of food, Nuvet vitamins, everyday vet expenses, and toys, as well as to give them the best pet life possible. As the breeders, we cover the cost of all breeding related expenses; progesterone testing, genetic and OFA/Pennhip testing etc. When the puppy reaches roughly 1.5 years old we begin hip/elbow testing, as well as test the heart and eyes to ensure they reach our standard for health before breeding. When the test results come back and are to our satisfaction, we then begin the process of finding an appropriate match. At this time, we are only offering guardian homes for female puppies.

When the female comes into heat, the family would bring her to us for breeding, unless another alternative has been discussed. After the breeding is complete, she is returned to the family until roughly 1 week before the litter is due. At this time she would come back to us to whelp, then raise her puppies until they are 8 weeks old. After the puppies are 8 weeks old the guardian family can take her home again and continue to love and care for her.

Being a guardian home parent is not for everyone. There are many benefits to it, however for some families, it is not ideal. To be a Guardian Parent you must live within a reasonable distance of Wingham Ontario, Canada. As a Guardian you are ultimately responsible delivering and picking up the dog when the time comes, however we are more then willing to help out depending on the situation.

When the time comes that we feel like the dog is ready to retire, we ask the guardian home family to spay her, then they have the privilege to keep her and love her for the rest of her life.

If you feel like this is something that would suit you and your family well, please reach out. We would love to talk to you more about it!
